FY2027 ICD-10-CM Updates: What’s Changing?
The new ICD-10-CM code set takes effect October 1, 2026, bringing 190 new codes, 30 deleted codes and 4 revised code titles.
But the numbers only tell part of the story.
From 56 new ectopic-pregnancy codes to more specific coding for cardiomyopathies, osteomyelitis, platelet disorders and rare genetic conditions, FY2027 introduces changes that could directly impact code selection, documentation and coding workflows.
And there’s more:
several familiar codes are no longer reportable, meaning some codes your team may still have in EHR favourites or pick lists will need to be replaced.
So, what exactly has changed and which codes should your team stop using?
